Scenery

Scotland’s scenery is justifiably world famous. Having cycled most of the roads in the country in the past, we know where all the photogenic viewpoints are. We can take you there, yet still avoid the crowds.

  • 7000 km of coastline, including many beautiful and deserted beaches, with magnificent views from above.
  • 1400 islands, including Skye, the Outer Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland.
  • Impressive waterfalls, some next to the road, others a 3 hour walk away [but 200m high!].
Pristine lochs and rivers. Loch Ness may be the world’s most famous lake, but it’s not our prettiest!
  • Wide glens [valleys] and narrow gorges.
  • Some of Europe’s last remaining wilderness and flow country.
  • The Kyle peninsula.
  • Spectacular West coast sunsets.
  • Most of the North of the country is mountainous.
  • Ridge walks; even our highest mountains can be climbed and descended in a day.
  • Beautiful and fascinating cities.
  • Scenic train rides, some still use steam locomotives.
  • Clean air. There is only one polluting factory in the Highlands, and the Environmental Protection Agency monitor it rigorously!
  • Miles and miles of purple heather.
  • Swathes of whins [gorse] in brilliant yellow flower with its heady coconut perfume.
  • Breathtaking autumnal colours.
  • Winter wonderlands.
  • Aurora borealis.
